On a day, the fate of a family on the coast of Sumatra region. The family had a child named Malin Kundang. Because the condition of their family is very apprehensive, then the malin dad decided to go to the country across.

Not a few islands have been visited, up to a day in the middle of the journey, suddenly the ship that climbed Malin Kundang in attack by pirates. All merchandise of merchants on board were seized by pirates. In fact most of the crew and the people on board were killed by the pirates. Malin Kundang was fortunate that he was not killed by the pirates, because when the moment happened, Malin was soon hiding in a small room covered with wood.
Malin Kundang hanging in the middle of the sea, until finally the ship that ditumpanginya stranded on a beach. With the remaining energy, Malin Kundang goes to the nearest village from the beach. Mother Malin Kundang who every day waits for her son, watching the beautiful ship, goes to the harbor. He watched the two men standing on the deck of the ship. He believes that who is standing is his son Malin Kundang and his wife.
Malin Kundang got off the boat. He was greeted by his mother. After fairly close, his mother watched the wounded in the right arm of the man, continue to rest assured his mother that what he approached was Malin Kundang. "Malin Kundang, my son, why did you leave so long without sending the news?", He said as he hugged Malin Kundang. But Kundang immediately let go of his mother's embrace and pushed him to fall.
"Women do not know themselves, just casually confess as my mother", said Malin Kundang to his mother. Malin Kundang pretended not to know his mother, for being ashamed of his elderly mother and dressed in rags. "The woman is your mother?", Asked the wife of Malin Kundang. "No, he's just a beggar who pretends to be my mother to get my treasure," Malin said to his wife. Hearing statements and amplified arbitrarily by his son, Malin Kundang's mother was very angry. He did not expect his son to be a rebellious child. Because of his rising anger, Malin's mother raised her hand saying "Oh my God, if she's my son, I swear she's a rock". Not long afterwards the winds rumbled and a violent storm came to destroy the ship Malin Kundang. After that Malin Kundang body slowly become stiff and eventually become shaped into a rock.
