Once, in an area in Minahasa, North Sulawesi, the fate of a grandfather along with his grandson named Nondo. They live in a small house on the edge of a dense forest. To fulfill their daily needs, the Grandfather went to the forest looking for forest products and sold them to the market. While Nondo can only help his grandfather cook and clean the house, because his legs limp. Both Nondo's parents died when he remained small. Since then, Nondo was raised by his grandfather to adulthood.
Every day Nondo routinely displeased. He was eager to help his grandfather search for firewood in the forest, but what his legs could not do was far away. He was also eager to see for himself the animals whose fate in the forest as his grandfather often told him every time he ended his dinner.
Every grandfather said, Nondo regularly listened to him attentively. He could only imagine what kind of animals his grandfather had told him. He also often dreamed of meeting the animals. In fact, he often mimicked the sounds of birds told by his grandfather.
On a day, as usual, the Grandfather was about to leave for the woods to search for firewood.
"Kek! Could Nondo come to the forest with Grandpa? "Pleaded Nondo to his grandfather.
"You at home, granddaughter," replied the grandfather.
"But, Kek! Nondo is anxious to watch the animals that Grandpa often tells me. "
"No, granddaughter! Are not your feet sick? Grandpa is worried about your health. "
"Kek! Nondo please allow Nondo to go to the forest with Grandfather this day alone, "Nondo cried as he whined.
Because pity watching Nondo, finally his grandfather also allowed it.
"OK! You can go with Grandpa, but end your homework first, "said the Grandfather.
With a sense of joy and excitement, Nondo immediately cleaned the house and cooked for lunch after the forest. A few moments later, Nondo has finished his homework.
"Kek! Let's go! Nondo's work has ended, "Nondo exclaimed.
"Yes!" Replied the short Grandpa with worry.
After that, they went to the forest. The Grandfather goes ahead, while Nondo follows him from behind. When entering the forest, Nondo was not left behind by his grandfather, because not only did his legs limp, he also often stopped every time watching the animals. In fact, he often play and imitate the sound of the animals he met. Because the fun of playing with the beast, so he kept far behind by his grandfather.
At first Nondo was unaware of the situation. When the day before the afternoon, he just woke up if he lived alone in the middle of the forest. The day continued dark, the forest atmosphere continues to be creepy with frightening animal sounds.
"Grandfather…! Grandfather….! Where's grandfather ...? "Nondo yelled his grandfather grandfather crying.
Nondo screamed many times, but there was no answer at all. He tried to find his way back home, but he kept going far into the jungle. He also increasingly waver and lost in the middle of the forest.
Night goes on late, Nondo has yet to find his grandfather. He also continues to be afraid by the sounds of birds that reply, a kind of birds uwak, kedi-kedi, kakaktua, toin tuenden and owls. Especially when he heard the sound of a hard and creepy quow of birds. He was crying and shouting loudly so his voice heard by his grandfather. However, his efforts were in vain, for no answer at all.
Meanwhile, the grandfather panicked when he realized that his grandson was no longer behind him. He was very worried about his granddaughter's granddaughter.
"Nondo ...! Nondo ...! Where are you? "Cried the Grandfather.
Many times the grandfather shouted, but there was no answer at all. Finally, he decided to go home, thinking his grandson had returned home. But when he got home, he did not find his grandson. In the morning, Grandfather returns to the forest to find his grandson. Until the afternoon, he went around in the middle of the forest shouting his grandson grandson, but did not find him either. Due to feel hopeless, he finally returned to his home. On the way home, he heard a strange voice.
`moo-poo ..., moo-poo ..., moo-poo ...!!" came the strange bird's voice.
"What's that animal sound? Sort of new today I heard it, "murmured Grandpa Nondo.
