Ombilin River Legend and Lake Singkarak |
Once, in a village in the area of West Sumatra, the fate of Pak Buyung's family. He lives in a hut on the seafront with his wife and a small child named Indra. To meet the needs of his family, Pak Buyung and his wife collect forest products and seize fish in the sea. Every morning they went to the forest on Bukit Junjung Sirih to search for manau, rattan, and resin to be marketed to the market. When the fish season arrives, they go to sea catching fish with fishing rods, traps or nets.
When he was ten years old, Indra often help both his parents into the forest and the sea. What a happy heart Pak Buyung and his wife have a diligent child like Indra. However, there is one factor that makes them worried, because the Indra has a clare, that is his appetite is very excessive. Within one meal, he can eat half a basket of rice with a side dish of various dishes.
At one point, the famine season arrived. Both forest products and marine products are very difficult to obtain. To that end, Mr. Buyung's family is obliged to save money, especially withholding appetite. They are obliged to eat what they are. If there is no rice, they eat sweet potato alias any taro (taro). Not so long the famine season is running, so they continue to trouble getting food. That factor seems to make them more concerned with themselves than their children. The difficulty of getting the food also makes them almost despair. They are not rarely lazing to go looking for rattan to the forest and looking for fish to the sea.
Past yesterday Pak Buyung's family only ate roasted sweet potatoes. Surely that factor is not filling the stomach of the Indra. One day, Indra cried for food to her parents.
"Daddy, find me some food! I'm very hungry, "Indra complained.
"Hey, lazy kid! If you're hungry look for food yourself into the forest alias to the sea there! "Cried his father with annoyed tone.
"Sir! Is not our child remained small? Surely he can not find his own food, "said the mother.
"Yes, he proved to be a child. But, he who at least eat a little, "argued the husband.
Hearing his husband's denial, the wife was silent. He then persuaded Indra to go alone to Bukit Junjung Sirih to search for forest products on the Hill. Indra also obeyed his mother's advice. Before going to the forest, Indra first feed a pet chicken named Taduang. Taduang is a clever chick. Every time his master (the Indra) returns from the forest, he routinely crows to welcome his master.
By noon, Indra came home from the forest without raising the proceeds. The next day, his father ordered him to go to sea to fish. When Indra went to sea, his father and mother just slept in the hut. Apparently, they are desperate to face the tribulation of fate. Such a situation runs for a month, so Indra felt her body very tired and intend to rest yesterday.
On one day, after returning from the sea looking for fish, Indra said to his father:
"Father! My body feels very tired. May I rest for yesterday? "Indra asked.
"What did you say? Basic lazy kids! You can not rest. Tomorrow you must keep returning to the sea looking for fish, "said the father.
Because he did not want to break his father's command, the next day Indra went to sea looking for fish. When Indra went to sea, his mother secretly went to sea. But, he headed to a cape, some distance from where Indra looking for fish. While his father went to the forest.
By noon, Mr. Buyung returned from the forest by lifting a bundle of fibers. Arriving home, he watched his wife was cleaning the pensi (a kind of small-capacity shells).
"What are you doing, ma'am?" Asked Mr. Buyung to his wife.
"Cleaning up the pensi, sir! When I was looking for fish in the sea, I watched not a few residents from neighboring villages looking for pensi. Finally I was looking for a pensi with them, "replied his wife.
"How about cooking tutorials? Is not Mother has not had time to cook a pensi before? "Asked Mr. Buyung.
"Calm down, sir! Said a resident from the neighboring village, the meat is delicious when cooked pangek [1], "
